DESCRIPTION:Celebrate America in sound with the Atascadero Community Band’s next free concert\, “Across America: Our Country in Music.” This special performance continues the band’s 40th anniversary season while honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States.\n\nAudiences will journey coast to coast through a vibrant program featuring patriotic favorites like America the Beautiful and The Star-Spangled Banner\, lively marches\, and musical portraits of our nation’s history and landscapes—from Grand Canyon Suite to Kentucky 1800 and River Songs of the South. Along the way\, you’ll hear blues\, folk\, and classic American dance styles that capture the spirit and diversity of our country.\n\nA special highlight of the evening will be the premiere of Atascadero March\, a rediscovered treasure found in the archives of the Atascadero Historical Society. Originally written as a piano piece in the early 1910s by Arretta Urey and newly arranged for band by one of our own members\, this piece honors the unique musical heritage of our hometown.\n\nJoin us for an uplifting evening of music celebrating the sounds\, stories\, and spirit of America!
